Xiaomi has been teasing the Mi Watch for quite some time now. The Mi Watch is now official. Xiaomi officially launches the Mi Smart Watch in Beijing, China today at an event. At the same event, the company also launched Mi TV 5 series, Mi TV 5 Pro series and Mi CC9 Pro. The Mi Watch comes with a starting price of 1299 Yuan that roughly translates to Rs 13,000. This is for the first time that Xiaomi has launched a smartwatch.
Xiaomi launches two variants of the Mi Watch. The top-end model of the watch called the Xiaomi Watch Privilege Edition comes with a four-curved sapphire glass, a high-gloss stainless steel body, a stainless steel chain strap and a ceramic back cover. The basic model of the Mi Watch comes with a price tag of 1299 yuan that roughly translates to Rs 13,000. The top-end version of the Mi Watch comes with a price tag of 1999 Yuan that approximately translates to Rs 20,000. The Mi Watch comes with various smart as well as fitness features.
The design of the Mi Watch is inspired by Apple Watch. This means the Mi Watch comes with a big screen that will make it easy for the users to read notifications, messages and emails. The smartwatch packs a square-shaped screen with 3D sapphire glass protection to make it durable. The Mi Watch includes a circular button on the right that will allow users to operate the watch. The Mi Watch also comes with support for eSIM.
The Mi Watch comes with a 1.78-inch AMOLED screen that offers 326 PPI. The screen of the Mi Watch is expected to be bright enough for all lighting satiations – good and not-so-good. The Mi Watch comes packed with a 570mAh battery and Xiaomi claims it last much longer than expected in single charge. The smartwatch also comes with features like — GPS, Wi-Fi, and NFC. The smartwatch runs on MIUI for Watch – OS designed especially for smartwatches by Xiaomi. At the launch the company confirmed that the Mi Watch Chinese model comes with MIUI for watch software while the global variant comes with Google’s WearOS platform.
The Mi Watch comes with smart as well as fitness features. The Mi Watch allows users to accept or reject calls, read or send messages and emails, play or pause music, among other things. The Mi Watch also tracks steps, activities like swimming and running and also tracks heart rate. It should be noted that for now the Mi Watch launches only in China and there are no reports on whether the Mi Watch will come to India or not.
